Eligibility

Am I Eligible? Fellows are U.S. citizens or residents of the U.S. Territories and Pacific Jurisdictions of all ages with a bachelor's or higher degree in a field associated with substance abuse prevention. You also may have two years of college from an accredited institution and two years of work experience in the prevention field to qualify.

Previous Fellows are not eligible to apply for a new two-year Fellowship. Another option is to apply for the new Graduate Internship Program. For additional information on eligibility and program requirements, please contact the Government Project Officer:

Qualifying Skills and Attributes Along with a demonstrated commitment to working in the substance abuse prevention field, Fellowship Program applicants must have:
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively in various professional environments
  • Basic computer skills
